Gumboot Rally 2020: Birds of a Feather
The Gumboot Rally is a beloved and fabulous annual tradition organized to raise funds for Inclusion NWT.
The two-hour event is attended by teams of costumed families, students, school staff, sports clubs, government workers, professionals, business owners and their employees, media, unions and politicians.
HOW DOES IT WORK? Teams of five participants collect pledges in advance of the rally. In the past, teams have organized office bake sales, workplace hockey pools and Survivor pools, putts-for-cash during lunch hour, silent auctions, 50/50 draws, school lunch specials and other creative fundraising schemes.Teams are encouraged to create teams based on a theme. This year’s theme is: Birds of a Feather. Come dressed in your favourite plumage!
The 28th annual Gumboot Rally will take place from 10am to noon on Saturday, May 9, outside the Abe Miller Building (4912 53 St). All teams are encouraged to register between 10am and 10:30am.The morning features contests of skill – such as The Boot Toss and The Boot Bowl-A-Thon – along with live music, magic shows and a BBQ. Teams are encouraged to come dressed in costume based on their team’s Bird-theme.
